Yorkshire Terrier Speciality October 2015
Yorkshire Terrier Club Show Judged by Jenny Williams.
It was lovely to have such a good number of entries presented to me at the Speciality.
BEST IN SHOW - BISS CH Karojenbe Tequila Hot Shot
My Best in Show winner was a delight to judge, and a wonderful example of the breed. Very compact with a well proportioned body, pleasing head, correct coat texture and colour. He was beautifully presented, and owned the ring as soon as he stepped into it. My Runner up Best in Show winner was a feminine bitch with the most wonderful toy-terrier temperament. Also beautifully presented, she was the correct size and balance, and her carriage and attitude demanded my attention.
Generally, I was pleased with the overall size, presentation and coat colour and texture of the exhibits. Most toplines and overall shape and balance were good. There are certainly some very promising youngsters coming through!
In my opinion there is one thing that the exhibitors need to keep in mind going forward, and that is temperament. I really would like to see a little more spirit and that intelligent, toy-terrier attitude that is pure "Yorkie".
Kind Regards
Jenny Williams

Yorkshire Terrier Club Show Judged by Linda Martin (NSW).
BEST IN SHOW - BISS CH Karojenbe Tequila Hot Shot
Lovely terrier attitude and temperament, very much full of himself, you could see that when he moved around the ring. He maintained his beautiful top line the whole way. Nice tail placement. Lovely head and expression, ears could be set a little bit more on top of his head but still of good size and shape. Lovely clear tan, blue of a nice tone.
RUNNER UP BEST IN SHOW - RUBISS CH Karojenbe The Entertainer
Beautiful feminine expression, like to see her ears placed a little higher on her head, tan is a little bit smutty. Lovely blue colour coming through nicely, lovely neck, good front. Moved well. Shows that ‘I’m full of myself’ expression that I expect in a yorkie.
BABY PUPPY DOG CLASS
First - Baby Puppy Dog (Vrose Hula Boy)
Short compact little fellow, tan coming through nicely. A bit difficult to assess either on movement today, this fellow just showed a little bit better top line than number 2. You can see the blue coming through at the shoulder, pleasing tan , nice quality of coat for a baby
Second – Baby Puppy Dog (Vrose Hotnspicy)
Another smart little fellow, you can see tan coming through also around ears and muzzle, the tan that he has on his feet at the moment is not quite the rich red of number 1. You can see his colour starting to break around his shoulder- he was just not showing his best top line today- perhaps he was a little bit scared. Tail set could be a touch higher.
AUSTRALIAN BRED DOG CLASS
First - Australian Bred Dog (Ch Karojenbe Magic of Merlin)
Right up to size- as were all the adult dogs- not too big, but don’t let them get any bigger. Nice head proportions– a little “foxy” in expression, well placed ears, good clear tan, perhaps could be a little richer if you are going to get fussy. Lovely blue colour, moved well, put together quite nicely. Coat was just not quite the texture I would like, but beautiful colour.
OPEN DOG CLASS, Two very impressive yorkies
First - Open Dog (BISS Ch Karojenbe Tequila Hot Shot)
Lovely terrier attitude and temperament, very much full of himself ,you could see that when he moved around the ring. He maintained his beautiful top line the whole way. Nice tail placement. Lovely head and expression, ears could be set a little bit more on top of his head but still of good size and shape. Lovely clear tan, blue of a nice tone.
Second – Open Dog (AM Ch Kentauro Alfa Wild Dream (Imp USA)
Beautiful rich red tan, very clear all the way through, not quite the top line of number 1- he was a little bit high in rear. His coat was of beautiful quality, lovely silky texture, unfortunately the colour is not as clear a blue as I would like.
He has colour change coming through on his part, hopefully that will improve. Just not that whole attitude and terrier type as coming through as compared to number 1. Remember that this is a Toy Terrier & he needs to go down those holes to get the rats!! Please always keep ‘purpose’ to the fore- they are not just a lap dog!
BABY PUPPY BITCH CLASS, Two pretty little girls, both of good size, I believe they are sisters
First - Baby Puppy Bitch (Vrose Honeyflow)
Distinct preference for number 1, beautiful little pixie expression, great dark eyes, beautiful ears, I see the tan points coming through nicely especially through her legs, nice quality coat, not to much lightness underneath at this stage, nicer top line than number 2.
Second – Baby Puppy Bitch (Vrose Goldpenny)
Pretty face and expression, great dark eye. Just a little bit to much light coming through her body coat (for my liking) at this age and I would like the tan to show a little bit more richness at the roots. Still a little bit pale yet and not quite the coat quality of number 1.
JUNIOR BITCH CLASS
First – Junior Bitch (RUBISS CH Karojenbe The Entertainer)
Beautiful feminine expression, like to see her ears placed a little higher on her head, tan is a little bit smutty. Lovely blue colour coming through nicely, lovely neck, good front. Moved well. Shows that ‘I’m full of myself’ expression that I expect in a yorkie.
Second – Junior Bitch (Vrose Fairy Kisses
Pretty expression, not quite the front of number 1, her tan is a little better than number 1 but she didn’t quite have the coat quality of number 1. Nice straight top line, moved well.
AUSTRALIAN BITCH CLASS
First – Australian Bred Bitch (Karojenbe The Sweet Talker)
Very Pretty feminine little bitch, her ear set is a little wide that just takes away from that real little pixie look that the yorkies need to have. Tan a little bit smutty but it’s real colour, you can tell by looking at the roots and the feet. Lovely blue colour, kept top line on the move, moved well in the rear. Pretty little girl
NEUTER CLASS
First – Neuter Bitch (Neut Ch Yetholme Charlottes Karma)
Very pretty feminine bitch, beautiful colour, nice rich tan, very clear. a little wide in front and didn’t really want to use her ears a great deal today, they could perhaps be on top of her head a little bit better. Lovely arched neck, beautiful coat colour and texture of nice length. Good top line, was a little bit uncertain of rear movement. A little bit choppy. A very pretty bitch.

Feywild Braveheart Spirited young baby of good breed type. Correct mouth and good round feet. Prefer to see less width in hindquarters and more angulation in front however this may improve with age and condition. Coat was not showing a blue-black appearance as required in the breed extension for a puppy, and would like to see the texture change very soon. |

Ch Karojenbe Pop the Corks Overall, a very impressive Junior class. My winner was well put together with a correct topline, maintained when moving. Very compact and neat, carriage correctly upright and colour developing well. Moved soundly, correct tail set. Head correct with terrier characteristics. Ch Tanteen Rock Star Another promising Junior dog. Compact body with correct terrier head and a spirited, even disposition. Would prefer a fraction more body and did not move as freely as my winner, however still a promising Junior with a good future I’m sure. |
